The first crucial characteristic of a successfully managed workplace transformation project is to ensure that changing trends in the way we work are understood and incorporated. Projects must be treated as an opportunity to modernise the way councils work.  

All opportunities should be taken to align the new workplace with contemporary working styles that can improve the well being, motivation, effectiveness and ultimately efficiency of council office staff. Creating a dynamic and satisfied workforce should not be seen as an added bonus to a workplace transformation project. Instead this goal should become one of the critical success factors for the project.
