Capital Ambition
Capital Ambition was established in January 2006 by the 33 London boroughs, London Councils, the Greater London Authority (GLA) and the London Fire and Emergency Planning Authority (LFEPA).  Its aim is to increase standards across London and to raise living and working conditions; whilst ensuring that London’s public services become leaders for innovation, fairness, relevance, efficiency and effectiveness.

Centre for Procurement Performance
This new unit has been set up by the Department for Education and Skills in order to identify and encourage the adoption of better procurement deals and to assist in delivering those savings opportunities to the education, skills and children and families system.

Central Buying Consortium
Largest local authority purchasing consortium in the UK with 17 members. The purpose of the Consortium is to improve the effectiveness, by co-ordination, of local authority purchasing with the object of effecting savings in public expenditure for the benefit of its members.

Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS)
The Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply is an international education and qualification body representing purchasing and supply chain professionals. CIPS acts as a centre of excellence to improve professional standards and to raise awareness of purchasers' contribution to corporate prosperity.

The Collaborative Working Centre (CWC)
A part of the Constructing Excellence Team, the CWC is promoting some very innovative and cost reducing approaches particularly around social housing.

Communities and Local Government (CLG)
CLG was created on 5 May 2006, under the leadership of Ruth Kelly. CLG's vision is of prosperous and cohesive communities, offering a safe, healthy and sustainable environment for all.

Department for Education and Skills (DfES)
The Department for Education and Skills was established with the purpose of creating opportunity, releasing potential and achieving excellence for all.

Improvement and development agency (IDeA)
The Improvement and Development Agency work to improve the quality of leadership; strengthen corporate capacity; improve service delivery in the areas of education, children's and adult social care services; and help councils build sustainable communities.

London Connects
London Connects brings together public, private and voluntary sector groups to support the delivery of e-government across the capital.

London Contracts and Supplies Group
The London Contracts and Supplies Group works to identify areas for collaborative contracting in London and puts in place contracts that can be accessed by any London borough.

London Councils
London Councils aims to make a positive difference for Londoners; fighting for more resources for London and for a fair deal for London’s 33 councils.  The work of London Councils involves actively lobbying, developing policy in key areas, and running a range of services; designed to make life better for Londoners.

Office of Government Commerce
The Office of Government Commerce works with government to improve procurement and project/programme management. OGC also work with suppliers to make the government marketplace more efficient and attractive to business.

The Performance Partnership (4ps)
4ps offers comprehensive procurement support to local authorities, including hands-on project support, Gateway Reviews, skills development and “know-how” procurement guidance in the form of procurement packs, case studies and extranets.

Procurement Agency for Essex (PAE)
Established in April 2004 the PAE is the first example in the UK of a genuinely cross public sector regional procurement organisation working to exploit the full benefits available from collaborative procurement.

The PAE comprises fifteen public sector organisations in the county of Essex .  It has many excellent contracts that are accessible to London public sector bodies together with resources and information on current efficiency topics.

Project Nomad
National Project sponsored by the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister is dedicated to mobile computing in local authorities. They create a comprehensive set of deliverables that should enable any local authority wishing to establish a mobile computing operation to do so with ease and confidence.

Regional Centres of Excellence (RCE)
The Regional Centres of Excellence (RCEs) were established to support the implementation of the National Procurement Strategy and to help councils meet the efficiency gain target of £6.45 billion. There are nine regional centres in total.

Society of Procurement Officers
The Society of Procurement Officers in Local Government (SOPO) engages in a range of activities to promote its strategic purchasing, contracting and supplies functions.

Tenant Participation Advisory Service (TPAS)
TPAS, The Tenant Participation Advisory Service for England, is the leading national tenant participation organisation working to promote tenant empowerment.
