The next Agency Staff Managed Services Forum, which takes place on 27 June, from 10am to 4pm, is set to be a valuable event for everyone with an interest in the use of agency staff.
The forum provides an opportunity to look at possible savings and to examine the number of agency workers in London, as well as a chance to address issues around suppliers, the challenges of managing an agency workforce and a host of other aspects of agency staff contracts.
The day begins with an introduction to the issues, followed by the findings of the London Snapshot Survey and an analysis of existing contracts. There will also be some discussion of managed service contracts, including exit strategies.
The forum will provide an excellent opportunity for discussion; to network and share ideas. Georgina Aplin, from the Office of Government Commerce, will give an update on the Agency Workers’ Directive & Private Members’ Bill and there will be some information on the hybrid model: permanent and agency staff within one contract. Finally, Cliff Youngman from LB Islington will give an update on the LCE Consultancy Services Project, before delegates get an opportunity for discussion on demand management.
The forum is to be held at LB Havering Town Hall Romford RM1 3BD. Click here for an outline programme for the day. Contact Project Manager Stephanie Favell at stephanie.favell@havering.gov.uk for more information.

A half-day workshop was held on 18 March, providing an opportunity to explore issues around developing improvements and identifying efficiency savings in Highways.
The workshop proved a valuable point of contact for everyone involved in Highways – local government managers, professionals and key officers – to share best practice and information on new approaches and projects. Click here for a news feature on the Highways workshop.
If you have any questions or require information on collaborative working in Highways, please call the LCE on 020 7934 9967.
