LGE e-alert: Workforce issues in shared services
In partnership with the IDeA, the LGE has developed a new web-based resource that provides practical guidance on the workforce implications of setting up shared services.
"Shared services" describes a variety of arrangements in which a service provider delivers services for a group of local authorities and/or other public sector bodies.
The resource can be found on the IDeA Knowledge website.
Measuring and reporting efficiency gains (DCLG)
The Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) has published a guide to measuring and reporting efficiency gains that sets out all the basic information required by a local authority in order to complete an Annual Efficiency Statement.

Audit Commission - Improvement Networks
Visitors to the Improvement Network can benefit from practical improvement tools to help middle managers and service heads in local government improve local public services. The Improvement Network also contains case studies and examples of notable practice to guide councils through each of these areas.

I&DeA Project, Programme and Change Management Toolkit
The Improvement and Development Agency (I&DeA) has published an online toolkit to help local authorities and other public sector organisations establish strong project and programme management skills.
