Energy Review Report

A joint review of Energy Procurement involving the LCE and South East Centre of Excellence (SECE) has been successfully completed.  The LCE Management Board approved the report on 17 March 2006.

The report benchmarked energy prices obtained over a 2 year period and identified significant price differentials between participating authorities.

A number of factors influenced performance including procurement strategy, timing to market, skills and quality of data. It is estimated that savings of up to 10% could be achieved if a range of improvements were implemented.

Following the publication of the report, the LCE Energy Project Team has worked with the London Boroughs Energy Group (LBEG), the London Contracts and Supplies Group (LSCG), other regional centres of excellence and the OGC Efficiency Team to develop a Local Government Energy Procurement Action Plan to implement the recommendations from the review.
