Action Plan FAQs

Below are some answers to frequently asked questions about the Local Government Energy Procurement Action Plan.

If you have any further questions, please contact the project office.

How will the action plan benefit my authority?
The action plan has been designed to help your authority review whether it has identified and is managing key areas that enable effective and efficient energy procurement. It can help identify areas of opportunity for improvement and form the basis of a review of your energy procurement strategy. It is anticipated that if your authority implements all areas of the action plan, then there is an opportunity to make up to 10% efficiency savings in this area.

Please note: The potential for process efficiency savings will ultimately depend on what energy procurement and management systems are currently in place and the resources that are available to individual local authorities.

How can my authority get involved?
Every London authority has been sent a copy of the action plan to enable self assessment of your authority's status at:

Why do I need to return the self assessment?
If all London authorities return the self assesment to the project office we will be able to identify the specific areas where authorities are in need of support. We will also be able to identify where authorities have successfully implemented a particular process or action. This can then be used as a case study for other authorities who are engaging in a similar process.

What support can I get from the project?
During 2006 and 2007 the project organised workshops to provide information and advice in support of the action plan. The project office will use the results of the self assessments to identify where further support might be needed to best implement the action plan. Details of past workshops are published on the Events page. Please also visit the Support and Guidance pages of our website for more information.
