You and Your Contractor: Best Practice Guidance in Contract and Relationship Management

A manual of best practice for contract and relationship practitioners in local government is now available for free download.

The manual, entitled You and Your Contractor, was produced following a recommendation made by the Status Review.  It's a plain English, plain speaking and practical guide complete with sample documentation, case studies and templates. 

It even includes answers to frequently asked questions and includes the Top Ten Tips for Success in contract and relationship management.

It'll help all managers of contractual relationships, whether they are:

• beginning the procurement process for a new contract;
• managing a contract in mid-term and are looking to make improvements; or
• in need of an answer to a specific question.

Guidance has been published in the past by the Office of Government Commerce (OGC) but this was not aimed at practitioners and the Status Review identified the need for an accessible, practical, plain English guidance document.  However, to avoid unnecessary duplication, the OGC guidance has been used as a developmental starting point.

The manual has been the subject of a consultation process involving practitioners from across London and is now available for download.
